December 19 is Yoga day! In this program, no need to change clothes or use a yoga mat; you will be seated in a chair receiving relaxing instruction from a bilingual (English and Japanese) instructor. Learn simple Japanese phrases during the instruction and stretch your mind as well as your body.
There will be two free sessions beginning at 12:30pm and 1:00pm. No reservation necessary, all are welcome.
As we celebrate the beginning of the new year, JFLA will host an exhibition featuring photographs from a selection of works by Hiroki Ohara, artist and fifth-generation Headmaster of the Ohara School of Ikebana.
Yoko the Cherry Blossom

The inspiring true story of a rural Japanese high school teacher's lifelong quest to create the very first artificially pollinated hybrid cherry blossom, to fulfill a promise he made to his beloved students before they were sent off to the battlefields to fight in World War II.
This workshop is suitable for all Kanji starters! You will learn various types of Kanji formations, the ways they are read, and the concept of radicals. You will also learn how to write Kanji with Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) with correct posture, the right way to bring an ink brush, and the right stroke orders. At the end of the workshop, let's write your favorite Kanji with calligraphy on washi paper! The registration will close when it becomes full.

The singing bowl used for this program harmoniously combines the healing qualities of the Tibetan singing bowl and its Japanese traditional singing bowl. Relax and feel your stress dissipate into thin air as the sounds of the singing bowl lead you into a meditative state.
There is no charge and no reservation required. All are welcome to come, sit, listen, and refresh!
