Test Results

Updated 7/14/2010

Passing Score:

A mark of pass or fail will be given only to those examinees who take all sections of the test. For general information regarding the scoring for the New test, please see page 5-6 of the New JLPT Guidebook - Executive Summary (ENG).

Scores Over the Phone:

JLPT Scores are NOT available over the phone. To view your results, you will need to logon to your profile on My Account or wait for your results to arrive in the mail. If you are unable to access your profile, please contact us so we can assist you with this.

Notification of Test Results / Certificates

The 2009 JLPT test results were mailed out at the end of February, 2010. Test takers are also able to view their results online by logging into their profiles on My Account. Your profile information including your score history will be available until otherwise noted.

JLPT test takers who are interested in having their results sent to Japanese colleges or universities should note that the JLPT Committee no longer provides this service effective 2002.  It is now the responsibility of individual test takers to directly contact and make arrangements with Japanese colleges and universities to have their scores requested from the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) in Japan, which handles JLPT matters in Japan (please see their website for further details http://www.jees.or.jp/).

Reissues of Certificates and Score Reports

If there are misprints in the name or date of birth on the certificates or score reports at the fault of the Japan Foundation, they will be reissued free of charge.  In this case, the examinee should contact the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles showing proof of identity, such as a passport or driver's license (Please note that names can only be indicated in Roman letters due to technical limitations).

Except for these reasons, the Japan Foundation will not reissue certificates or score reports free of charge.  Instead, it will issue a "Japanese-Language Proficiency Test Certificate of Results and Scores".  Please contact The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, showing proof of identity, along with documents such as a test voucher to prove that you have taken the test (some fee may apply - please contact the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles for details).
