Set Regional
Options for Windows 2000 |

Click on the Start button and move a pointer over
Settings. |

Click on Control Panel. |

Double click on Regional Options Icon.

Click on General (left most tab) if it is not shown. |
 |

Look at the Language Setting for
the System (second section). Look for Japanese
from the list and click on the check box for Japanese. If
you are asked to insert Windows 2000 CD-ROM, do so and follow the
directions. |

Click on the Apply button at the bottom and a dialog
box will ask you to restart the computer. Click on No
and close the dialog. |

Click on Input Locales. (right
most tab). |

Click on the Add button in Installed input
locales (first section). |

You will be asked to select Input locale
to be added. Select Japanese from the list and
click on OK. |

Then make sure Japanese is added to the list in the Input
Language section on Input
Locales. If you find Japanese there, click on it
and then the Set as Default button. |

Click on the Apply button at the bottom and a dialog
box will ask you to restart the computer. Click on No
and close the dialog. |

Go back to General (Click on the left most tab). |

Click on the Set Default ...button near the bottom,
and you will be asked to choose a default language. Select Japanese
and click on OK. |

Click on the Apply button at the bottom and a dialog
box will ask you to restart the computer. Click on Yes
(or Restart) and restart the computer. |

Look for an EN or JP symbol in
the task bar on the desktop. Click on it, and you will find two
IME options, EN for English and JP for Japanese. If JP is not checked,
click on it and get it checked to change the input mode from English
to Japanese. |
