お正月(Oshogatsu: The New Year) is one of the most important holidays in Japan.  Come celebrate with us in our traditional way!  You will learn Japanese vocabulary and basic expressions related to New Year’s as well as Japanese New Year’s customs.  Draw New Year’s greeting cards using calligraphy and play traditional New Year’s games.
Beginners and people who have no experience with Japanese are very welcome!

      • Fee: $10.00/ person
      • Activities: learning Japanese vocabulary, basic expressions, making greeting cards and traditional Japanese games.

Rules and Policies

1. Payment

You can pay by paypal or check.  If you pay by check, please mail a check within one week after you submit your registration form online.  Your registration may be cancelled if you don't send us a check within a week after your submission.

2. Cancellation and Refund

Cancellation Deadline: Fri. December 4
Cancellation and refund requests must be received by e-mail (jpcourse@jflalc.org) by the cancellation deadline in order to receive a full refund. No refunds will be issued after the deadline passes.

3. Cancellations by JFLA

The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles (JFLA), may cancel courses when necessary. Applicants will be notified in advance and receive full refunds. The course contents are subject to change.

4. Course Availability

All courses are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for each course will close once it is filled to capacity. A drawing will be conducted in the office of the JFLA if full capacity is reached and multiple applications are received on the same day.

5. Make-up Classes

You are responsible for your absence. There are no make-up classes or refunds if you miss class. We will provide for you the materials for the class you missed, but do not offer private tutoring.

6. Waiting List

Once the class becomes full, applicants can be placed on a waiting list. If space becomes available, applicants will be enrolled in the class. If space does not become available after the cancellation deadline, JFLA will refund 100% of your payment.
