Come and join us for a special evening of Onigiri (rice ball) workshop by a master chef and contribute to TABLE FOR TWO’s World Food Day Campaign 2015. You can even learn some Japanese related to rice and Onigiri!

The Los Angeles event “Change the World with Onigiri” on November 17th, featuring Chef Andy Matsuda will showcase the tradition of making the very popular Japanese food Onigiri (rice balls) for others with “love”.  Onigiri is a traditional and healthy snack made of rice.

Through Chef Andy Matsuda’s lecture and demonstration, participants will understand how rice has played a major role in Japanese culture and cuisine and learn how to make Onigiri with delicious fillings using special local food from each region of Japan.

Participants will be able to help providing school meals to children in Africa and our local communities in the U.S. by just taking photos with their Onigiri and uploading them to the World Food Day campaign website. The sponsor companies for this initiative will donate five school meals to children in need per photo. Also, all of the fee for this event will be donated to TFT for the World Food Day campaign. In Africa, a 25 cent donation funds one school meal to a child. In the U.S., it facilitates a school meal upgraded with fresh vegetables and fruits in low-income neighborhood districts.

About Table for Two USA

TABLE FOR TWO USA (TFT) is a nonprofit organization that originally started in Japan in 2007 as a social movement intended to simultaneously tackle the twin problems of global obesity and hunger/mal-nutrition. TFT partners with corporations, schools, restaurants and consumer product companies in creating healthy, lower calorie “TFT Meals”. For every reduced calorie per meal, $0.25 is donated to provide one school meal in areas of need throughout the world. World Food Day (October 16) was established by the United Nations to encourage people to acknowledge the severity of food issues currently facing distressed regions of the world. In support of World Food Day, TFT, with the theme of “Change the World with Onigiri”, is holding World Food Day “One Million Itadakimasu (Bon appetit) campaign from October 16 through November 30th, with the aim of providing 1 million meals to children in need.
